This Privacy Policy explains how SuperOwl ("SuperOwl", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information across our products — the SuperOwl app (an AI phone assistant), SuperOwl Widget (an AI website chat assistant), and SuperOwl Discover (AI-powered local-business search and matching), together the "Services". It applies to businesses that use SuperOwl and, where relevant, to the visitors and callers who interact with a business's SuperOwl assistant.
1. Introduction
We process personal data in accordance with applicable Indian data protection law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. This Policy describes what we collect and why, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Business account data | Your name, business name, email, phone number, service details, pricing, and any calendar or website connections you provide when setting up SuperOwl. |
| Google Calendar data | If you tap Connect Google Calendar, we receive your Google account email and calendar event/free-busy data needed to check open slots and to create, reschedule, or cancel appointment events on your primary calendar. |
| Call data | Caller phone number, call duration, and — if you enable the feature — call recordings and transcripts from the SuperOwl app. |
| Chat data | Messages exchanged with SuperOwl Widget on your website, along with any contact or callback details a visitor chooses to share. |
| Discover data | Search queries, stated preferences, and location signals that people provide when using SuperOwl Discover to find local businesses. |
| Usage data | App and feature interactions and credit consumption, used to operate billing and improve the Services. |
| Device data | Device type, operating system, and app version, collected automatically for diagnostics and support. |
| Payment data | Processed by our third-party payment processor; SuperOwl does not store full card or bank details. |
3. How we use information
- To operate the AI phone assistant — answering, qualifying, and booking calls on your behalf
- To power SuperOwl Widget — answering website visitors from your business information and passing callback requests to you
- To provide SuperOwl Discover — matching people's stated needs to relevant local businesses
- To process prepaid credit purchases and usage-based billing
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests
- To improve the accuracy and reliability of the Services
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, spam, or abuse
- To comply with legal obligations
Google Workspace APIs (Calendar)
If you connect Google Calendar, SuperOwl uses Google Workspace APIs only to provide that booking feature: checking free/busy times and creating, updating, or cancelling appointment events on your primary calendar during calls you opted into. Calendar tokens are stored encrypted. You can disconnect at any time in Calendar & bookings, which stops further Calendar access.
SuperOwl does not retain user data obtained through Google Workspace APIs to develop, improve, or train generalized AI and/or ML models. We also do not use that data to train non-personalized models. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or transfer it except as needed to operate the booking feature you enabled (for example, writing the appointment to Google Calendar).
The use of raw or derived user data received from Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. See the Google Workspace API User Data and Developer Policy.
Data access. Your Google account email, and free/busy and event data on your primary calendar. Data use. Only to offer open slots and to create, reschedule, or cancel the appointment events you enabled. Data sharing. We do not share Google user data with third parties. During a live call, only the specific time offered or confirmed (for example, “Tuesday 3 PM”) is passed to our voice and AI providers so the assistant can speak to the caller; we do not send your calendar events, event lists, or calendar contents to them, and we configure and use those providers so that this information is not used to train their generalized models. Data protection. Calendar tokens are encrypted at rest and all transfers use HTTPS. Retention and deletion. Calendar tokens are deleted and the Google grant is revoked when you disconnect Google Calendar or delete your account. Appointment records you created in SuperOwl remain until you delete them or your account.
4. How we share information
We do not sell personal data. We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Matching & Discover: When a caller's or searcher's request falls outside what a business offers, limited information (such as their stated need) may be shared with a relevant business so they can follow up.
- Service providers: Cloud hosting, telephony, payment processing, and analytics vendors who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements: Where required to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or a valid governmental request.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to continued protection under this Policy.
5. Recordings, chats & transcripts
Call recording and transcription are optional features a business may enable in the SuperOwl app. Website chats handled by SuperOwl Widget are stored to provide the business with conversation history and lead details. Where these features are enabled, businesses are responsible for providing any notice or obtaining any consent required by law before recording calls or logging conversations — see our Terms of Service for details.
6. Data retention
We retain business account data for as long as your account is active, and call, chat, and Discover data for the period needed to provide the Services and meet legal or operational requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
7. Data security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No system is completely secure, and we encourage businesses to use strong account credentials.
8. Your rights & choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to withdraw consent for certain processing (such as call recording or matching). You can exercise these rights in the app or by contacting contact@superowl.in.
9. Children's privacy
SuperOwl is intended primarily for business owners and users aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below the applicable minimum age. If we become aware of such data being collected, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
10. Cookies & analytics
Our websites may use cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some website features.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
